Jill Techel has called Napa home since 1971, and has developed a reputation for her tireless work ethic while serving in numerous elected roles and with organizations throughout the community.
Jill was first elected in 2005 and is currently in her 3rd term as Mayor. She has dedicated her career in public service to preserving Napa’s world-renowned appeal and status as one of the greatest communities to live in California.
Jill played a critical role in responding to the 2014 Napa Earthquake that left the community in shock and facing significant financial burdens for reconstruction. Jill was able to secure federal and state assistance to help rebuild homes, businesses and infrastructure. During her time as Mayor, she also successfully led the Downtown Flood Bypass Project, and has championed others to increase recycled water use and renewable energy for city facilities.
Jill first entered public service as an appointee to the Napa Parks and Recreation Commission, and was later elected to the Napa Valley Unified School Board for six years. In 1996, she was appointed to the City Council, later securing the seat in the following election and serving two terms before running for Mayor of Napa.
She currently sits on the following boards and commissions in addition to her responsibilities as Mayor:

- Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG)
- Napa County Transit Authority
- Napa Sanitation District
- Napa-Vallejo Waste Management Authority, Alternate Representative
- US Mayors Water Council, Co-Chair
Jill received the Preceptor Award for her leadership skills from the National Community Leadership Association in 2004, and is the Program Coordinator for Leadership Napa Valley. During her term as Mayor, Napa won the 2011 U.S. Conference of Mayors Water Conservation Achievement Award and Jill was recognized as the 2015 Citizen of the Year by the Napa Chamber of Commerce.
She is a graduate of the University of North Dakota and is a proud grandparent of three.
